Hi all,

The girlfriend's Ka's exhaust has split - it's the weld at the flange as the cat / manafold connects onto the rest of the exhaust.

Can this be welded (needs welding all the way round the flange connection) or is it new cat / manafold time

If it can be welded, what sort of labour time are we looking at, I'm assuming the lot has to come out to get a good weld?

Cheers!

If it's a fairly new exhaust, then these can be welded, but ideally off the car.
If this is the case, check the mounting points have sufficient give to allow the exhaust system to flex.

If rust has caused the crack to appear, then buy a new one.

cheers,

the exhaust was renewed recently up to the cat.

it doesnt look like rust tbh, it just looks like it's stressed and snapped by the flange.

Will take it down to the garage

Check the engine mountings as well as the exhaust mountings - if the engine can leap about under the bonnet more than it's supposed to, that could contribute to the cracking
