How easy or not is it to fix the exhaust front end been told it will cost £400 +

The Maverick is not a common vehicle, and therefore parts will be more expensive than you would expect. An exchange starter motor, for example, is close on £200
A motor factor who can supply Walker exhaust systems is likely to be competitive, so its best to ring around.

Thanks John I know it will be expensive I just want to know how it is done I have been told the sub frame has to be removed also half the engine surely it cant be as complicated as that

Sorry mate, can't comment....sounds crazy to need to do that just to replace the exhaust though.
