Hi, I am trying to sort out the mess of the house I live in. The previous owners extended it in the 1980s and it is unusual to say the least!
I have a question about drainage. I have an open drain in my loose canopy type conservatory just outside the back of my house. I am concerned because the drain looks like an open hole and there is both rain (conservatory gutter) and foul waste (kitchen sink and washing machine) going into it. I do not know if it is a combined or dual waste system (1930s built semi if that is a guide).
1. is there an easy way to test if it is combined? (not sure i have access to the manhole which is under a room)
2. does the pic seem right? or very bery wrong?
3. should waste just go into a hole or have pipes plumbed right into it?
Its been like this for years.
Thanks Jake
