Lovely...Just seen this posted on a Facebook group for people that own Teslas. This guy has spent the thick end of £50k on a car, and jury rigged this set up to save some pennies on a charger

Yep I know this discussion, I feel it's also a north/south thing. We had this debate at home the other day, jury and Jerry can both be used. Jury rigged has an origin in sailing, Jerry in derogatory terms for Germans

better than using the fixed charger as the DNO can't remotely turn it off or down.
and the leads clearly don't connect to the DNO
Where did this nonsense come from?so having a charger the DNO can't turn off independently
There is, it's called a Type 2 connector. Used by virtually all EVs other than the very early Nissan Leaf and a few others. So why not have a charging point that can be used with all EV's?
As covered before, that is just stupidity on the part of the charge point operator. No reason for any free period at all.it seems POD point chargers give first 15 minutes free,
For most vehicles that will add over 200 miles of range, far more than virtually all journeys will be.The idea is to charge while sleeping, so that means around 8 hours, so around 60 kWh.
