My newly acquired but secondhand smeg fridge-freezer has several hairline cracks in the bottom of the lining under the salad drawer - you have to look very hard to see them, but sadly they are there. How bad news is this - will the coolant leak out over time? Fridge seems to work OK at the mo? What are the implications and can I do anything to help?

It really isn't a problem. The refrigerant is contained in metal tubing within the fridge/freezer cabinets, so there's no more chance of refrigerant leaking out through those cracks then there is of gasoline leaking out of a car if it's windows aren't tightly shut.

Those cracks don't do any good at all, but they don't do any harm at all either.
