Hi

my fridge runs too cold
it seems as though the thermostat doesn't cut out
approx -5'c last time i probed

any ideas what it could be

I would say that the thermostat doesn't cut out.
 
If the thermostat is faulty, then this procedure will fix it:

1. Buy a new thermostat.
2. Remove faulty thermostat.
3. Install new thermostat.
4. Test new thermostat.
5. If new thermostat works, discard old thermostat in an environmentally friendly manner.

thats about as clear and precise as it gets. nice one

only trouble is i don't know what a thermostat looks like!
i suppose its linked to the dial somehow!

I suggest that you complete step 1 first, then you'll have an idea of what you're looking for in step 2.

Don't forget to turn the appliance off before starting step 2. And you should do this when the compressor isn't running.
