Come across a blanking plate today about 100mm sideways from a sink in a cloakroom but a good 400mm from it diagnally. behind it was a connector block feeding a boiler from the ring. Obviously this needs fusing down using a FSU but is it allowed inside a cloakroom? If so how far away from sink does regs state it has to be?

It is allowed unless you have a bath or shower in there.

It needs to be far enough away that it will not be splashed. It need not have a switch on it, which is good as people are then unlikely to fiddle with it with wet hands.

300mm spacing is minimum (most would prefer more)

Do you mean the cable runs diagonally, this is bad as it is liable to get damaged when people drill the wall for towel rails and things.

Is there any way to reposition it so the cables run vertically and/or horizontally from the accessory?

Sorry John explained badly, cable runs in correct way (left/right/up/down) i mean the box is 100mm to the right of the sink, but maybe 300mm high, so it works out 400mm away from sink, is that ok? Its on RCD for added protection

above the sink or below? Above is probably better as less likely to be splashed or have water drip or leak onto it.

But 400mm radius from the nearest part of the basin or tap will do.

Yeah its above and to the right. What is the minimum distance the regs state to be from the sink? Or is it just common sense previals?
