Hello all.
I was towed off the motorway today because I had lost all power. The RAC took me home after doing a computer diagnosis & told me that my number 2 fuel injector had gone open circuit.
My question is how long does it take to change the injector & price, ball park figure?
Its booked into the garage on Monday but I really need the vehicle back asap for work!
Many thanks.

Bing.

Strange that you lost all power when just one injector packed up. I think it may be more than that - possibly a high pressure fuel pump. Injectors don’t take long to change but they will have to be coded to the ecu.

Thanks for your thoughts Mottie. I too was wondering why I couldn't just carry on with lower power. I will have to see what the garage come up with on Monday.
This as been an intermittent problem for quite some time but has always rectified itself after turning off for a couple of minutes & restarting, once the traction control light (skidding car icon) goes out on the dash the car goes back to normal. However, today it just wouldn't go out even when I pressed the off button.

Alas, one injector going out will cause the engine to go into limp mode....the injectors don't actually lose their code, the ECU just needs to be reminded of it. If a new injector is needed it will need to be recoded unless its code number is the same as the old one.
(I say this so long as only one cylinder is out....more than that and the ECU could be at fault).
Try a bit of Googling to find a Bosch diesel specialist in your area?
John :)

Cheers John & thanks for your input.
Hopefully, my local garage will sort it Monday.
