My MIL had a maggot treatment for an infected leg ulcer

Sure, as I said, they only eat rotten flesh. In the wild they bring more disease with them, and they get in the way of healing. We used - cutlery - to get the maggots out. Then a big slosh of antibiotic jungle jizzm of some sort, and a white powder redolent of the DDT puffs, and injections I expect. I was there a few weeks, the cow was fine.

It continued to give me a funny look, though.
