Fused spur

Hi this might sound like a stupid question but i currently have a Double Pole switched fused spur which has a 13amp fuse in it. If i wanted to change the appliance that it connected to to one that said it required a 3amp fuse would i just be able to change the fuse within the switch, or would that just burn out the fuse?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It is perfectly ok to downrate the fuse for use on say a table lamp, or other low power kit.

Yep, thats the advantage (and sometimes disadvantage) of fused spurs.

They should come with 3A fuses as standard.

At least you wouldnt have to carry a ton of 3a fuses in your box!

And people would put the correct fuse in rather than just leaving the 13A one, whatever..
