On a suspended timber floor how much gap is required between ground and the underside of the joist. Is soil below allowable? or does a DPM need to be fitted.
You can't just leave the soil there. It needs some concrete (usually minimum 4" thick, or 2" if on a damp-proof membrane) to keep the dmp down.
Alternatively 2" of any inert, compacted material on a dpm, such as sand, gravel etc.
