Gap left from Door Close Chain

Hey guys,

Removed one of those internal door closing chain devices and it's left a 125mmx25mm indentation on both the frame and the door where it once resided. I could pack the holes and fill them but wondering if there maybe is a plate of something I can get to cover them?

could you use a length of thin strip wood painted and glued into the 125mm by 25mm hole?
They have this strip wood in long bins in say B&Q, Homebase, Wickes etc.
