Gap too large

Finally got round to fitting the gate. In my haste, I put the tee hinges flush against the edge of the side gate rather than allow the hinges to stick out by 10mm. This would have kept a 10mm gap on the opposite side with the wall post. As it is, there's a 20mm gap.

My options are either:
- leave it alone
- bring out the hinges on the fence post by 10mm
- get a thicker post on the door handle side (having gone to the effort of trimming down the current post by 15mm)

What's the best option to go for?

take out screws in gate

drill new holes

put screws in

job done.

That would make it like a hash job.
Only if you made it so. Filling 'unwanted' holes with dowels or plugs set so's the grain follows that of the parent wood is a standard method of doing a quality repair. Ideally you would use a wood similar to that of the subject and properly done would be virtually invisible.
