Hi i have a double precast garage, the standard bolt together type with metal beams holding up corrugated roofing ( the cement type that looks like abestos but isnt.)

Would anyone have any idea what kind of weight it can take ? I am just wondering if i could put some large planters on the back or front of it grow some screening plants to cover out an unsightly neighbouring building.

As an alternative i have been considering building a bridge across it with scaffold poles and use this to support the planters.

Thanks for any advice or ideas

Corrugated roofing whether asbestos or not is very brittle, if you ever need to walk on it you need duckboards to spread the load. I would avoid any extra weight on it, the roofing it's self is very heavy, some planters filled with soil may well be too much for the supporting iron frame and once it bows the roof will start to leak.

Any chance of fitting trellis to the side of the garage and growing climbing plants along it perhaps?
