Whenver I buy a new garden bench or table I like to hammer metal protectors into the bottom of the legs to keep them from standing on damp paving. But I don't know what they are called nor who stocks them - it being so long since I bought any.

They look a bit like beer bottle tops but with spikes on that enable you to hammer them into the bottom of the table leg, etc. If you know what these things are called (or a national store that sells them - I can't find them in B&Q) I'd be grateful.

I know what you mean - they are called glides, but I've no idea who stocks them.....however, you could consider screwing rubber door stops into the leg end (stainless or brass screw), using a stainless coach screw (pilot hole needed, but adjustable) or some of Wickes magic glides, 25mm diameter.
