Morning

As per pics, typical with all this cold weather and snow

Gas Aga cooker and boiler side. The small plate/piece shown has fell off (looks to have been spot welded in place) which separate the cooker and boiler sides, which as caused the fireproof rope to drop down.

I was tempted to just cut the rope and leave the separating part for now so I can fire up the boiler side so I have heating. the cooker side is running fine and doing the hot water but I don't want to as its gas and possible dangerous?

Am I best trying to get a plumber/gas engineer out? Most ones I call don't like gas agas and done seem to keen to come take a look. Also the thermocouple may need swapping as its playing up again on the boiler side the pilot lights goes out regularly.

Thanks

Your gas Aga is a Rayburn. If you lift the hob, you will see where this has fallen from and it is easily re-attached. With the pilot problems, you may be best having it serviced and this repairerd at the same time.

I have never known a thermocouple itself work intermittently.Ever.They either work or they do not.The reason they go off intermittently is because the pilot is not on the thermocouple correctly. It could be a weak pilot due to injector blocked or a partial block somewhere. Those appliance burners are prone to lift off when cold too..If the pilot is weak then possibly it will not cope with the lift off so well.
