Gas Boiler 3 Amp Fused Spur Position

Hello

My local builder told me at the weekend that I should not position the fused spur (surface mounted box) for a boiler under the unit itself. This is because if the boiler ever went wrong and water started leaking down the wall, it could trip the whole ring.

Does anyone know whether this is just good advice or part of the regulations?
