My PME supply has 25mm tails to a fused isolator, then 16mm T&E to the CU.
The 16mm earth goes from DNO to inside the fused isolator where a taped up connector joins the 16mm earth to the CU and the 10mm gas bond. The earth in the 16mm T&E is not connected in the isolator but is at the CU.
The taped up connector seems a bit iffy, as it is just floating in the isolator which is all plastic. The DNO has 2 earth terminals (not sealed )so surely it would be better to take the 16mm earth and the gas bond directly into DNO, as the gas pipe is next to the DNO. BUT will the DNO allow the gas bond to fitted?

A photo of what you have would be nice. There isn't really a need to pass the earth through the isolator - it can go directly from the MET to the consumer unit.

It can go on the MET, on the consumer unit earth busbar.
It also could go to the earth connection on the PME head (if it is accessible and there is a 16mm main earth to the consumer unit).

the earth connection IS accessible. Ideally it would go on the PME head with the already connected 16mm main earth, BUT will the DNO object? Some DNOs can be very awkward.

There is nothing stopping you using the earth rail in the consumer unit at the MET, or installing a metal block with a number of ways on it adjacent to the head and using that as the MET. In the latter case, the 16mm will go from the head to the MET, a 16mm from the MET to the CU earth rail and a suitably sized cable from the MET to the gas (you'll need to consult the DNO for this). Are your water pipes metal too? If so there should be a link from where they enter the premises to the MET also.
If the MET isn't inside the consumer unit then a notice should be placed next to it - "Safety electrical connection, do not remove"
