Gas Care how does it work?

wow you testing my memory. Lets see now, Ideal Standard and Beeston are two that spring to mind.Nipples with a coating of linseed oil, pulled together with a pulling up bar and coaxed together with a pudlock. Burners supplied by British Oil and Gas (I know you will correct me if I have got that the wrong way round). Hospital rads were supplied up to a certain handling weight. If the rad came with extra sections, they were added using nipples with left and righthand threads with a paper washer between them and pulled together with a rad bar. Now gunge in F and E tank ( I don't pretend to know everything and so I will ask the question) I still have this thirst for knowledge. I was asking for input instead of reading tin labels. I am sure that different engineers would recommend different cures for the problem. Sorry I do not remember asking about air in the rad near the pump (No doubt you will refresh my memory). Commercial and domestic principals are the same but have different problems which only personal experience can solve. Over to you. ps not sure if Standard was added to Ideal at a later date.

One way to settle this - Post picks and show how hairy your arse is and how short your neck is . 2 signs of a pipefitter;)

Aquaheat, what did I do to deserve this. I don't remember saying that I had never set up a burner. I did set them up occassionaly, gas and oil. I have got to go back 45 years to remember. No digital helps in those days, flue temp. reading, flue gas reading. adjusting airflow across the burner, adjusting flue draft stabiliser. this is becoming a game of "my dick is bigger than yours"

I guess your d!ck is plenty big enough John , mention of the paper washer/gasket has made me think that possibly I was being a bit harsh towards you...unless of course you 'googled it" which I doubt..;)
It's always interesting when listening to the old hands reminiscing about the old days and how it was done back then. , something I miss since the old man passed away..

Boilers that were assembled on site had their burners commissioned by the burner supplier, so not our areas of expertise.

Nothing to do with having deserved anything I was going from what you posted. With regards to being a grunt, that is just the term used for a pipefitter round my way. Nothing derogatory.

I brought up the fact as you seem to be under the impression that there are only domestic guys on here and now you know that there are many time served guys on here that have a wealth of knowledge across all fields.

Jon

Yes, I did think it was a forum to assist diy householders. Did not think anybody would be asking questions about dust suppression at the pithead, which incidentally I could have helped them with.Ha-ha.

Lots of shysters and folk looking for answers in an underhand way.
Gets a bit tiresome at times so guys can be a bit short.
