It looks like the spigot is missing, its best to check, (can you see brickwork through the hole where the pipe goes?)

It still requires a non-solid setting, fire resistant mastic to block the gap up.

Dont forget about the bonding at the meter!

Im certain you can see the brickwork through the hole where the pipe go's.

Earth bonding is a requirement of the gas installation, The earth bonding should be within 600mm or before the first T of the meter outlet pipework

My brothers next door neighbour is a Gas safe engineer and he fitted our bathroom so i think its best for me to get him out.

Im all for sorting things myself but this isnt the time for that i feel

Hopefully it wont be too expensive to rectify!
