My son has just bought a property and has just found out the gas meter has been removed, gas pipes are in place. He has rung British Gas and they will put one back in free of charge and no standing charge whilst it is not being used, he is having central heating fitted shortly( am confused as to why they had it taken out in the first place, as this is the case). But the gas pipe under the floor boards looks really coroded, do you think they will replace them with new ones? It is just for my peace of mind really, incase there are any leaks.

depends what has been paid for, they may not even use the old pipes, my understandig is the (the gas installer, not bg) have to pressure test it, or just look at pipe and say, new pipe required
