Hi the Father in law is having a new cooker (oven and hob combined)installed soon. Tried to get him to go electric but didnt want to change :( So he has took a call from the fitters arranged at POS and they have said no wallpaper behind the cooker (it has a lid). I plan to go round there and put a stainless steel splash back behind the cooker in the heat zone, but does the heat zone extend to below the worktop, ie behind the oven cavity. They phoned today to change the install date and he asked the question and they said yes (but not sure if the understood the question) :( is this correct? Have checked the MI and it is not that clear. If it is represented by the dotted line then looks like some work required.

this looks much clearer but is more a general guidance which I understand the MI overrides?

You don't want wallpaper, or any combustible materials ,behind the cooker.

If he is having a new gas cooker replacing an old gas cooker , then in theory everything should already be OK, might not be but as long as you have the height clearance, and the minimum clearance for the worktop, shouldnt need anything else

old one installed 40 years ago (was gas)like for like apart from cannot get imperial size cooker so this is a toy one 50cm wide. Area C B and D will be sorted with the stainless steel splashback but if F which is the cooker, forms the zone then remedial works required. Thanks
