I would like to know what the difference is between the registration number of a firm and the licence numbers of its engineers as shown on the Gas Safe Register's website.

Can the individual engineers self certify boiler installations, for example, in their own right or does that have to go through under their firm's registration number?

Thank you for your help.

The individual may be registered in his own right, otherwise he can only do gas work for the Company he is Registered with.

The registration nnumber is what counts!

Its held by the firm or the sole trader.

Each individual has his own licence number to identify himself.

Any gas work has to be done under the FIRM'S registration.

An individual cannot do gas work outside his firm unless he holds his own personal registration which costs money!

The advantage there namsag, is Tony will never have to worry about identity fraud.

Agile, thanks very much for your explanation too. Got the message about the FIRM being registered to carry out the gas work by way of its licenced engineers. So the firm will be responsible to issue a building regulations compliance certificate.

Cheers.

Last time I used Gas Safe's GWN it didn't work.

Boiler dataase was corrupted, wanted every Worcester to be an LPG model, and there was no 'confirm' button.

It is a bit of a shambles at the moment; somebody has tried to reinvent the wheel but has failed. So much for their IT experience, at the moment you still have to ring up to GWN.

Got 3 boilers to register so might do it on the corgi site and say they where all fitted 31st march ,if the gassafe site is a pain.
