Personally i would not put it down ,But remember some boilers don`t need a roomstat as per manufacturers instructions ie Baxi 133 he plus combi

Can you tell me if the combi instant 80e plus needs a room stat.

There is no such boiler . there is a 80e instant , a 80HE instant or there is a 80 HE PLUS which is the smaller version of the 133 HE plus and doesn`t need a room stat , it can be fully trv`d as the boiler has a built in interlock
