Helped a mate do a gate. Trying to hide the white painted side fence with feathers.

He covered the hinges with feathers on post side,I said better to use a jigsaw and cut around them?

No door stop on latch side (inside).

The latch (rose) doesn't move easily so I said drill a wider hole. The spindle was a few mill too long so he used washers to pack it out.

Ok to put the hinges over feathers?

Hinges and latch are on the wrong side.
Gate should open inwards with the hinges and latch on the inside.
If the spindle is too long, cut it shorter.
