I'm surprised you're interested in that foreign muck.

I take it you've been to Germany a few times ?. The reason for the plug. Many here in england by ignorance believe it's all pork derivatives. All have a gander. German xmas market is a big thing in B'ham, that muck is very popular. So popular the local curry house owners have complained about it. ho ho ho

I'm prepared to be corrected, but from my limited experience of German food, it is of limited appeal. Now, the beer, especially the Kolsch, that's local to the Cologne area, as well as many of their other beers, are a different matter.

Knockvurst sausage anyone? :o

Are you going to watch ?. As the beer is concerned , many wouldn't like it ,[the Carling effect] Jeez I've drunk some, my fav is Krombacher, draught of course. I believe the largest independent brewer there. Eis is popular and very good ,not Tuscan tho. Plenty of good whites, not the cat **** we get Lieb ,Gutes etc. The top thing is the way they cook when you've explained how you want it, i,e properly, and get it. I have stayed at the homes of Germans and had home cooked. I even on a marathon journey stopped at a service station and ordered a burger .Biggest burger I've seen with chips and salad for cheap price. Can you imagine that here. Best brekkie ever Novotel Aachen ,Penguins constantly refilling with excellent coffee and kidney's and fish on the list as standard. Oh, not forgetting the dessert I mentioned on another post. No it's not Italian but it ain't bad.

Yes, will have a look. Haven't had a great deal of German food, but I imagine that there is more to it than bangers and sauerkraut. As for the wine, perhaps the Jerrys are like the frogs and keep the best stuff for the home market.

Got to hand it to the Krauts though. They work hard and play hard. A country that appreciates good food and wine/beer has it's priorities right.

So very true on all counts and very good value. Pics of my wine are tried and tested you can't get them here .The ones you buy here can do nothing for sales, maybe that's how they like it. Afterall why waste good on an uncultured palate. Barolo died because of it's success [long story].

Food can be a bit spicy especially in the south . and an interesting kind of noodle that is stupendous

Oh dear. Bit of a let down as far as I was concerned. More of a family ties than a food show.

If you get the chance then Einbecker Ur Bock or Mai Bock, just be careful as you leave the "Kneiper" (pub) it is very moreish, and I'm sure there is someone waiting outside to hit you over the head with a sledge hammer...
