It will either be an olive in there, or a fibre washer. As long as you have the tools to get to it properly it should be a simple fix for you.

Don't know this boiler intimately enough to say for sure what it is in this joint.

Assuming it is the cold mains inlet, just turn this off under the boiler and open a hot tap to release the pressure.

Have an old towel handy to catch the drips and don't let any water drip onto anything remotely electrical

im pretty sure thats a fibre washer connection. if your carefull you could probly get away with giviing i a little nip up.

By 'nip up' I assume you mean tighten...

That looks like fun to get to, just make sure you get the complete hydralic o ring set for this boiler.

Strange also that you still have the old style condensate trap on your boiler as well.

The blue cap will spilt and leak.

A new version has been available for a while now.

if you can get the manual its a straight forward job. the blue cap just unscrews off and on again but turn of the electrics and put a small bowl underneath to catch and condense.


if you dont feel totally confident in starting the repair, theres nothing wrong with getting someone who is.

The blue cap thing seems easy enough, the black thing that houses the water filter at the front of the picture is another matter..
