Going blind?

Actually, many of the venues I visit undertaking sexual health outreach do sell Viagra (which has been bought via the internet) to their customers.
As a health care professional I do find this very concerning.............but what can you do!!!
Whilst I can't stop it - I do advise the people selling it to at least check that the men they're selling it to don't have heart problems, angina etc.
Because at one of the places I visit, they had to get an ambulance for 1 of the men who had taken Viagra - he had severe chest pains and problems with his eyes whilst having sex there! ;)

I'm on Atenolol to slow my heart down so does that mean I shouldnt use viagra? not that I have access to it, or even ah! hum! need it, Hell! I play rugby every weekend and have to think of fish an chips when ever I get on a bus!!! but was just wondering ;)

I've had a look and I can't see any problems using viagra with Atenolol - but should be under medical supervision :)

Heres a link re info on viagra

http://www.inhousepharmacy.co.uk/mens-health/viagra-information-physician.html

It's nitrate medication with viagra thats the problem - lots of people sniff 'poppers' when having sex - which are also nitrates!

I wouldn't advise anyone to use any kind of prescription medication without seeing their GP beforehand :) :)

Probably......! But what made me laugh was that the owner of the establishment had to send the first ambulance away - cos he wouldn't go to hospital - he'd paid his money to go to a 'sex party' and wanted to get his monies worth...........!!
But when he collapsed for a second time about an hour later he refused to get in the ambulance until she gave him a refund......... ;) !!!

Was it the refund he was thinking of ? Perhaps he was 'private' and expected to complete his transaction / get his dosh's worth in the meat wagon ?
Blimey, poor old nurses expected to be ever more flexible these days.

Every drug has a risk of long-term side-effects. Just so happens that Viagra's are only just becoming apparent.

about 900,000 patients had been prescribed Viagra in the UK

Eh? That's really quite a lot! Do we have an epidemic of floppiness, or are there a lot of cases of people getting the doctor to prescribe it when not really required?

I remember in my pubescent youth, being caught by my mother, in a rather embarassing act. She said, "If you keep doing that you'll go blind". Maybe she was onto somthing

..he Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has identified 50 cases of the condition, which can occur in men with heart disease or diabetes.
The FDA says it has as yet found no evidence that Viagra is to blame for the condition.
More than 20 million men worldwide have used the drug since its launch in 1998.

Shouldn't be worrying about that then !!
;)

But enquiries are being hammpered by the sudden outbreak of blindness amoung their investigators. :D

Many men suffer with impotence at some time in their lives - but the causes are purely psychological - give them a placebo tablets and tell them it's viagra............and there off again ;) !!

But I also know that some medication and medical conditions can cause impotence............realistically though, I'm sure that it does get prescribed when its not really needed.
The figure quoted above is also not a true reflection of how much viagra is being taken - as I said earlier many people are buying it from venues that sell sex, from the internet and the usual 'drug dealers'
