Going to do a Central heating flush my self

just draining the water out will not do much

A chemical clean will usually help a lot

If you use X400 the system continues working normally while the chemical is in use.

X400 will take about four WEEKS !

X800 will take four HOURS and is generally considered stronger!

I would not expect anyone without training and experience to make a very good job of power flushing. Choosing the right chemicals is also very important.

Chemical cleaning does the job on its own and does not need any equipment. In many cases it does just as good a job as power flushing. But not in the worst cases where there are physical blockages.

i dont know why your "off duty"BG engineer told you to wait 2 weeks to add inhibitor! by the looks he was more intrested in taking the scrap etc
also it was his job and responsability so he should have added it there and then along with other things, it makes me wonder how 7 out of 10 jobs go to them its a name thing i think, im a registered installer with potterton and worcester and would not get away with anything like that plus i couldnt walk away from someone doing that, makes me want to put me head through the van window aaaargh no wonder our trade gets so much bad press. pls choose wisely next time :)

he was doing a private job for cash, and not working to the standards which a major company, doing work with a guarantee and a repution to build, would expect.

At the end of the day do it if you think its gonna make a difference then fill your boots, but more often than not it doesn't need powerflushing to cure a fault. The only faults I've ever cured with powerflushing is noisy boilers and cold spots on radiators. If the flow to the rad is poor there's a number of different reasons why that could be. You will find sludge in the bottom of most rads of 7yrs+ age, it doesnt mean there is or that is the problem, but a nice easy way for mr BG to convince you its a pflush that needs doing. Just get someone in competent to correctly diagnose the fault.
I personally carry out several pflushs every month, many are after other people have supposedly done it already, I have around £2000 of equipment, a variety of made up bits of pipes, hoses etc.. to get over various problems. I always carry 3 different chemicals to use depending on the circumstances and reason for the flush, and regularly get through £60 worth of them on a flush. So do I think you can diy it succesfully? absolutely not.

WHOOO HOLD ON....
you said you had a 105HE installed?
this is a mains fed combi which should have a filling loop somewhere conected to the mains to fill, what does gauge say on front of boiler?
why is the cylinder still there pump and cold feed etc etc this should have all been removed pipework altered and capped at right places, or have i missed something?
