HI everyone,

I am after some information on flushing my boiler and central heating system.

I have an 'Ariston condensing boiler' and approx 10 old radiators around the house, about a year or so ago my secondry heat exchanger failed and once repaired i was advised to flush the system out and fit a 'Magna Flow' to help remove silt.

My question is how do you flush the system, i am under the impression that i have to do as follows;

1. Drain the system down,
2. Close all of the radiator valves,
3. Attach a hose to the drain valve and then open the first radiator until clean water comes out.
4. Once clean water is seen close the radiator and open the next in line and so on.

Is this correct ??? If so do i leave the filling loop open or closed and how do i actually flush the boiler ???

Regards
Stan.

You could dd some Sentinel X400 to your system, leave it in for a few days whilst using the heating, then use the flushing process you describe.

For the filter I prefer to fit the Spirotech Magnabooster2, as it catches non-magnetic as well as magnetic particles. It also easy to fit on the heating return pipe, as the body allows fitting to vertical, horizontal or even diagonal pipes.

So have i got this right,

I empty the system via the drain valve,

close all the rad valves,

connect my hose pipe to the drain valve,

then open each rad one at a time and use the filling loop to flush it through.

then on refill put the sentinel x400 in for a few weeks.
