hi there

There seems to be a dirth of levels out there, ranging from £25 to £1000.

I need a good level for a groundworks job outside, with a range of about 100ft in daylight.

Can anyone recommend one? Is it important to have self-levelling and how much should I spend? £250 - £300?

Best

Have a look at Leica Geosystems general construction lasers. Fantastic levels.

I recently went down this road and found that there are no outdoor self leveling lasers for less than about 300, then a swathe of un branded or micro brand varieties, up around the 450 500 mark you start to get offering from the proper brands, PLS top con etc

I couldn't justify 500 plus so bought a reconditioned re-calibrated one off ebay.

It makes setting out and surveying for jobs so much quicker, and very useful when working with diggers trenching etc
