Hi folks,
Sparks in a newly renovated kitchen left a few feet of grey cable, taped up, coming directly out of the wall persumably for hard wiring appliances.
I don't need this (Dishwasher etc has plug).
What is the best/safest way to traet this spare cable?
do I just cut it and plaster over?

Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.
Cheers

Not a stupid question.

You need to find the other end of the cable and ensure that it is fully disconnected from any source of power before you do anything with the cable.

Cutting and plastering over will create a very dangerous situation.

If you cannot find the far end then with ALL power turned of at the main switch fit a fused outlet at the end of the cable to make a safe termination and obvious indication to anyone drilling holes in the wall that there is a possibly live cable is in the wall there.

Thanks for the reply Bernard. For a fused outlet can I use a socket or does it need to be something particular.
There is also a FCU in the general area so I'm guessing the electrician left both options for fixed and unfixed appliances, doers this sound right?

Roofs, stonework etc I'm good at but electrics always baffle me?

Cheers

Get in touch with the electrician who did it, and ask him what's what.

You'll find his name etc on the Electrical Installation Certificate for the work done in the kitchen.
