Grit coming from bath water?

Hi,

I have noticed the past couple of days there has been some grit coming from our bath taps (i think it is the cold one).

Does anyone know what this is, why it's happening and what I should do?

Your tank / cistern should be in the loft.
Cut supply to it and then run your bath tap to empty it.
Any sediment should be apparent and removed, then refill
