I'm thinking of setting up for myself in the emerging heating / hw technologies mainly gshps. I know worcester run a 2 day course but that seems a little quick to me as a breakdown guy. Has anyone done it or any similar courses and what are the setup costs like?. I'm guessing its a 2 - 3 man job to install these beasts?. Is there any sort of certification needed to safely deal with, and install the glycol etc?. I'm purely thinking domestic by the way.

BPEC are currently running course which i think is about 5days.
Dont know if it covers refridge handling.

To be able to properly repair them you would need a refrigeration course.

To just install them then its not much involved.

The units themselves are packaged units so there will be no involvement with refrigerant unless you are repairing them.. To the best of my knowledge there are no requirements for certification for working with the glycol carrier fluid but a filling pump will be required together with big muscles to wrestle with all that plastic pipe... I think that I shall stick to fixing 'em, I don't do digging :D
