Thanks all, I will check to see if it is barrier, where can I find that it is or not.....?

Given the age of the system, I'd strongly advise approaching Gledhill for independent advice. They're obviously keen to sell more of these systems and I (for one) would be EXTREMELY reluctant to recommend one to my customer if there was an unresolved problem that led to sludging after 2 years!

Is yours an open-vented or sealed version? (is there a small tank immediately above the machine itself?

No there is no tank and Gledhill have stated that as I am out of warranty that a powerflush is needed as the quality of the water in this area is very bad....???

BG price on some systems are over the nomal price of £568 due to extra labour need & pipework configuration.
The powerflush normally has lifetime warranty, again depending pipework configuration.

price for his area would be £635 (greater london), central london is £647. there is no difference for the size of the system so if any additional labour is required it will be on the quote and it should be queried if you havent been told what its for. cant see why pipework configuration woulld make a difference.

gstar....to check if its barrier it will be written on the outside of the pipe....if its been wiped off then the only way to confirm is to disconnect a pipe and check the open end.

softus....straight to the point as usual  .....im afraid my geography is awful but im not sure if the m25 makes a difference to the price anymore.
