Hi all, I'm going to install some Halogen lights in my kitchen, which is 20m2.

How many lights will I need? I'm guessing about 12.
If all GU10 bulbs at 50watts will I be able to dim them? and what size of dimmer will I need?

Thanks.

fair point. don't won't to go that specialised. any ways round it?

I suppose I could do 2 circuits with 2 dimmers. what's the biggest 'standard' dimmer I could expect to buy?

1 kW.

Which will give you the power to dim 500W of mains halogen.

Thanks, that's just the answers I'm looking for.
Any idea how many lights I'd need for 20 square metre kitchen? Is there a rule of thumb?

depends on how high kitchen cieling is, what is the point of putting in so many when you are going to dim them, halogens work better when not dimmed. (its how they are desigend to work)

also it depends on angle of light from fitting

ceiling is 8 and a half feet.
I don't want to put in "so many", I want to put in the 'right' amount (that's why I'm asking) but for the sake of 20 quid, I'd like to be able to dim them when I want.
