Hi,

Hoping someone can help me with a lighting query as I am no electrician!

One of the G4 halogen lights in my bathroom has stopped working - have tried changing the bulb and it is the fitting that seems to be the problem.

I thought I had managed to attach an image to this post but maybe not - if you click on the link to my profile, the image should be there.

The text on the side reads "12v Max 20w G4". I was hoping I would just be able to order a replacement, but can't find any.

Does anyone know where I could find something suitable?

Alternatively could I replace it with a 12v downlight? My concern is if I buy one of those, the cable that comes from it won't connect in to the cabling that is in my bathroom ceiling? So ideally I would need a fitting which has a cable with a plug like in the photo. Suggestions?[/url]

Try an electrical wholesalers and I suspect the DIY sheds such as Wickes, B&Q would stock them.
But be aware it is not always the lamp/bulb that is at fault, as these lamps are run on transformers and it could well be that a transformer has failed. So try swapping known working lamp/bulb and see if that works, to confirm if it is lamp or transformer.

Thanks for the replies.

Have moved another of the bathroom lights into the slot this one was in and it works fine, so it must be the fitting that is the problem.

Have already tried B&Q and Wickes and they don't have anything
