Hi,
my halstead ACE has caused my wife to scream at me this morning due to no heating or hot water.
I go look at it, red light on so I reset it. still on. I look at the troubleshooting flowchart. It asks is the pump running. how do I check if the pump is running?

then it asks to check rotation, again how?

am I being thick, is it obvious how to do this?
thanks

p.s. there has been a whistling - squealing noise for quite a while now -if this is not the pump, what would it be?
is the pump easy to replace? expensive? would I be better off biting the bullet and getting a new boiler rahter than patch this together year on year?

Sorry i just responded to a message you left last year.
I still need to know if you got the pin seals and where from.
I've just got my Ace High going again - a fan problem.
I had to check the pump - you can tell if it's working by feeling the pump body for a gentle whirring or by placing a long plastic rod against it and listening to the other end of the rod. Or you can see a slight kick on the water pressure dial when the system starts up.

Hold a small compass over the big center screw and it'll tell you both ;)

Ok mate, here you go, found it, its a Diverter valve inner serv. Kit,,840503 from boilerspares.co.uk
kit contains seals to go around the diverter shaft (actuator
for dhw demand switch) -actually if I rember right it contains a whole new shaft too.

worked for me! good luck.

£100 quid up, depending on access, whether the valves work etc.

I just phoned around, and it looks like a busy time for the professionals right now. If I was gonna do it myself is it difficult? any hints or tricks to be aware of?
