Handbrake fault, Discovery 3

Hello. I have a problem with the handbrake on my Discovery 3.
I applied it yesterday with no problem. When I came to release it this morning, it made a funny whirring type noise, and a yellow and red warning light was flashing on the dash, As far as I can tell the handbrake won't release.
I had to get a cab to work.
Anyone any ideas I can try when i get home later?

Seems like a very common issue, I have no idea on the fix but to release it watch this:

I nearly bought one once. Read up on them and the electronic handbrake mechanism was a common and expensive fault to rectify. I seem to remember it was something to do with the gears stripping in the handbrake motor.

Yes, common and expensive fault.

New handbrake mechanism, and will need diagnostics to reset.

I specifically avoid LR's, so no full details from me sorry
