Really need some advice please

So, our boiler has just packed in. The issue is that our old boiler is a floor-standing model, and the plumber says the replacement will have to be a wall-mounted one. The only suitable spot for it is currently taken up by kitchen cupboards.

We’d really like to reinstall the cupboards after the new boiler is fitted, but there won’t be enough room in the original layout. My question is: would it be possible to have one of the cupboards slightly overhanging the wall?(approx 200mm) The cupboard sits near an external corner — something like what’s shown in the attached picture (picture from the web.)

I’ve seen that you can get 1-metre-long hanging rails, and I was thinking that if I screwed one securely to the wall, it might bridge the gap and support the cupboard. Do you think that would work?

OP,
AFAIK, the major Mfr's still make floor standing models - whats the problem with one-for-one replacing your present appliance?
Why not post pics of inside the kitchen and the outside? Show the present position and the proposed position, and where the flues terminate outside.

Thanks for the replies ...we asked for like for like replacement, plumber said no and it maybe because old boiler is by a window, (mentioned every time british gas come out to service it. As for pics will try and sort over the weekend however have already taken cupboards down in antipation of the plumber arriving (now coming monday)

And to the other respondent, sorry don't want open shelving

I've just done the evxact thing you want in a rental we're refurbing. Hung the first unit as normal then the second had its second fixing screwed to the first. Levelled them as normal and popped a couple of screws from 1 to t'other: all solid.

ok have took a picture hope it makes sense so one is of the wall, one is trying to show what the cupboard layout was before, and the last one is trying to show what we would like it to be, i have left one bracket on the wall at the moment but ideally the cupboard will be dropped down a bit as its too high on the wall for us vertically challenged people

It's gonna look stupid, either get a smaller cupboard or modify the one you have.

If anyone leans on your sticking-out cupboard it could swing outwards from the wall at the bottom.

They normally hang at the top, but only gravity holds the bottom in.

It will look stupid too. The view from the other room will be awful.

Thanks for the info, the plan was to put the single cupboard around the corner so the double cupboard can't be knocked but I do take your comments on board it's more od a question of storage at the moment and I would buy a new cupboard that would fit unfortunately diy kitchens don't do the same colour/pattern anymore
