Hi all - Hubby and I are about to wallpaper over the stairs and in the hallway. We're quite competent, but haven't wallpapered for a while. Is there a best place to start? eg. longest drop first? Also, if we scrape off the old (slightly textured) paper very carefully, will we need to line the walls first? ( :( ). Finally, how long (hours) should we allow from start to finish?

Thanks in advance
:)

Best place to start.......your right longest drop first then work back up the stairs, amke sure you mark a nice line to work to, you dont want to be messing about with14 foot of wet wallpaper.

As for the scraping of....only you know how thick your new paper is and what condition the walls are in, so its impossible to say, but as a guide..light plain shiney paper reflects the light a lot more, therefore it will show up all the lumps an bumps. If the walls are a bit sus underneath then you may have problems with the joints too.

If you do line, either cross line or start at the other end so the joints dont end up over lapping

Time wise...give yourselves about half a day (inclusive of rows!!)..as big as they look most staircases only have about 5/6 drops..so dont be too daunted.
