can I use old slabs whole?

I've tried breaking them up with a sledge hammer and no luck.

Could I put it down and then wacker plate over them to bed them in?

Eh? I have not come across a slab yet than can resist a good thump with a sledge hammer, even the old council 3' x 2's.

Whole slabs will not bed in. You will have to bed them in yourself, otherwise they may rock.

my gafter smashed them but not small enough for hardcore, so im ordering in mot 1 tomorrow.

Tyhe bricks he broken have been laid down.

How many times should I go over it with the wacker plate?
