Hardly any hot water but heating fine!

Evening all - I have an oil fired system. Boiler was serviced recently and seems to work well. Heating works well (as expected - house is warm enough for me!)

We've never had much capacity in the HW though - Normally two showers a day is the lot. We have cold feed appliances and don't use HW for anything other than showering and bathing the baby. Recently though we can't even do that.

The capacity of the HW is now about a 1 min shower. That's the lot! System is on for two hours a day (5 to 6am and 5 to 6 pm) for hot water and an hour later for heating.

Could this be down to my 3 way valve? I've tapped it and squirted in WD40 but it's not made a difference? Manual over-ride is floppy and don't seem to have any positive action - could the valve be stuck in "mostly heating" type position?

Also tried using the immersion last night and that was even worse - two unrelated issues here or is that connected somehow?

Would so love some advice. I can't afford to have it looked at at least until I get paid at the end of the month but we can't even shower now - at least not if baby has a 4 inch bath!

Switch on Immersion Heater untill pay day, then get the hot water controls sorted out!

BM - I tried the immersion yesterday and didn't even get any hot water - just warm! So that's a no-go sadly! Probably something else I need to save my money towards
