Hi

Looking for obstructions, I've opened up the pump from my dishwasher and taken out the impeller to make sure it's clear and I've found that there is a greasy coating over most of the recess with a lump of it at the bottom.

Now I thought that this type of pump was "lubricated" by the water running through it so, before I go and clean it all out, I wanted to check whether or not these should actually have grease in them.

Anybody ever opened up a new one before or know for sure?

Cheers

The 'Grease' is usually congealed fat etc that has not been flushed through, it builds up and blocks pipes and pumps so does need cleaning out.

Thought that might be the case. Pump didn't seem to have enough oomph to spin the washer arms so that makes perfect sense.

I'll give her a little clean with alcohol and hopefully she'll give me a whirl!
