Evening people,

Im normally in the combustion forum by the way

Last year my van was broken into. Long story short, I got all my gear back and finally a toshiba laptop ( Satellite C660/C660D)

I finally got the laptop back as it had to wait to go to court before I was given it back as the lil ****e was saying it was his. Obviously, it wasnt and the police knew this

The little tosser who did my van has put a password lock on the machine so that it wont proceed to boot up to the windows 7 screen.

The software came pre-loaded.

How can I get round this and reset it once again?

Thanks guys

Simple, non tech, way is to use a disk such as this if you are refering to the user account passwords-

Otherwise you need to use program such as Toshiba Assist

That will not help with an HDD password.

With great difficulty. There are ways, but they're tricky and require a fair bit of knowledge. A professional data recovery company may be capable of unlocking the disk. For a fee.

So would I better off just getting a new hard drive and op system?

Likely cheaper than getting a data recovery company (or me.) to unlock it.

You don't need to purchase an OS, only acquire appropriate media. You have a license already.

Did the court award you any compensation for all this hassle?
