I employed a handyman whose list of skills stated painting and decorating. He started work yesterday and one task was a small job touching up some water based paintwork - wall emulsion and a water based satinwood. I was working at my desk in another room but smelled white spirit and called out, asking him what he was using it for. He said he had dripped paint onto my laminate flooring and needed to use WS to get it off.
I feel alarmed that he (a) drips paint (b) did not use any protection on the floor and (c) thinks you need WS to wipe up emulsion.
He's supposed to be returning tomorrow and Sunday to work his way through a number of other painting jobs.
Should I sack him or just have a word about a, b and c above?
