Would anyone think 10mm slate tiles would be suitable to sit a woodburner on? if bedded down on a concrete bed?

Yes, no problem - i take that you are referring to a wood stove?
Remember that slate requires sealing. I'd suggest a dark grout.

I was concerned the woodburner might be too heavy for 10mm?

You could always go for a one-piece back hearth in thick slate (eg. like a concrete flag) - it's simple to cut with an angle grinder. But more expensive than slate "tile".

Out of my budget!

I'm forming a concrete hearth and tiling with slate tiles.

I hope 10mm is sufficient.

make sure you let the concrete dry out before tiling

I'm sure our tiles are about 10 mm we have dark grey ones and they do the job. We have a wood burner.
