Hi there,

I noticed recently that when using a particular hairdryer, one of the plug pins gets very hot.

Additionally, but unrelated, after having a shower I have noticed the surface of the shower switch located just outside the bathroom door is quite warm.

I know that these are high-wattage appliances, but is it normal for the plugs and switches to increase in temperature? Is it something to worry about?

Regards
James

Is it something to worry about?
It is something to have inspected as warmth at the surface can mean high temperature in the inside of the plug, socket or switch where the current flows from one piece or metal to another. This heat can lead to softening of springs and copper wire which makes the contact less effective and more heat is generated thus leading to damage to the plug, socket or switch and to the cable.

Check the wiring in the plug for the hairdryer, could be lose wire.
If thats ok, try it in a different socket, if its ok, then you need to get your socket / wiring checked where it is plugged in that gets hot.
