Heat lamp / infra red

I'm trying to buy a decent heat lamp, the one with the red bulb, but they're quite poor and not many about. I've seen some with a holder only without a stand. Ideally I need one with a stand.

Can I make my own? What sort of cable size would I need for a bulb that dishes out 100-275w? And obviously a holder that doesn't melt too!

There are diffrent types of inferred, names like far inferred, so until we know why you want it hard to advise, and to be Frank I would need to read up on what does what, I would simply select ready built as would be worried about the safety as I know we had to have even quartz halogen lamps either a safe distance away or with glass in front of them.
