I have had four LV shower lights fitted to my 2 metre sq bathroom (IP65 rated). Before the electrician did the job I re-panelled the ceiling with purpose designed plastic panelling and fitted the lights into this and subsequently into the loft.
I have also fitted insulation fire retardant 'hats' over each light fitting. I worked in the bathroom this evening with the lights on, after about two hours I noticed that the light fittings have heated the plastic panelling up to such an extent that the fittings have 'sunk' into the plastic.
I confirmed with my supplier that the panelling and lights were all OK to fit together.

I suspect that the 'fire hats' are causing the problem by not allowing the heat to dissipate. Any ideas or even better solutions.

Thanks in advance

lights generate heat. insulation above will be stopping the heat dissapating. try lower wattage bulbs and see if that makes any difference

Thanks for the prompt replies.

The lamps are dichroic.
I fitted the hoods following a visit to another electrical trade outlet who said I needed to fit them !!!
